About the Event
Curious about sourdough baking but not sure where to start? This introductory workshop explores the fundamentals of creating and maintaining a sourdough starter while explaining the simple science that makes it work.
Participants will learn what a sourdough starter is, how wild yeast and bacteria interact through fermentation, and why time, temperature, and feeding ratios matter. The program will cover starter creation, daily care, troubleshooting common issues, and how a healthy starter is used in baking.
This session is designed for beginners and those looking to better understand the “why” behind sourdough. No prior baking experience is required. Participants may receive a starter to take home or instructions for beginning one at home, depending on program format.
By the end of the program, participants will have the knowledge and confidence to begin their own sourdough journey and continue learning through practice.
