Author Talk - Carlene Maracle-Smart

We are pleased to welcome local author Carlene Maracle-Smart for the launch of her book Arrow, Iron Feather & Echoes. Carlene (Mohawk, Bear Clan) is a poet and cultural teacher from Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory. Her writing journey began in childhood as a way to process grief and has grown into a lifelong practice of reflection, healing, and storytelling. A songwriter and community writer, Carlene is known for blending personal narrative with cultural continuity, weaving family memory, Mohawk teachings, and lived experience into her work. Through Arrow, Iron Feather & Echoes, she offers a multigenerational collection that honours both her own voice and the emerging voices of her daughters.

During the evening, Carlene will talk about her writing and cultural journey, read some selected poems from her collection, and answer questions from the audience. There will also be a book signing, and an opportunity to meet Carlene.
